Metrics – what they are and how you add them

What are Metrics?

Metrics are measurable results used to track the performance of your campaigns and desired roles in Goals. Metrics are for example Pageview, CPC, Revenue, Leads, MQLs and others.

Where are Metrics used?

Metrics are used in:

  1. Goals – to define the measurable result, towards which the goal should go.
  2. Campaigns – to define the measurable result, towards which the campaign should go. Metrics appear in Brief section – Objectives.

How can Metrics be created?

Metrics are created automatically, whenever you set-up an Integration.
Alternatively, you can create a new metric manually. To do so, you need to know the following information:

  • Metric name
  • Metric group
  • Metric type – (time, number, percentage, switch) this defined in what format we should treat the metric
  • Unit – if you choose type Number, you need to also provide a unit (i.e. shorthand that should appear after the number (i.e. 100 leads)
  • Value type – to define whether we should optimize this metric towards a minimal or maximal value
  • Accumulated – to define whether data for individual days should be summed (i.e. leads 2 + 2 leads = 4 leads) or not summed (i.e. bounce rate 80% + 75% ≠ 155%)
  • Chart type – this defines what chart types we should use. However this will be preselected for you based on your answers.
